G2Android v. 1.4.2 : now it is really stable !

Sorry, no new features in this release :-(
But a lot of bug fixes :-)
These bugs specially appeared in CyanogenMod running Android phones, because, for some reason, CyanogenMod kills really rapidly applications loosing focus.
For example, when trying to upload a photo, Android, under Cyanogenmod, would kill G2Android, as it lost focus, for letting the user choose his photo; or if you received a phone call while browsing a gallery, Android would also kill G2Android.
That’s ok, it’s part of the Android lifecycle : this robot knows how to get his RAM back !!!
The thing is, until version 1.4.2, G2Android would not « remember » the Gallery cookies, the albums hierarchy, its position in the gallery, etc… so it forced close.
Now, it uses a SQLite database, to save its context, so before leaving an activity, G2Android saves its context (onPause) and when entering an activity (onResume) it gets the context back.
Next year, some new features will appear, like using the camera directly to send photo, or maybe analyse EXIF metadata ?
If you have some ideas, or if you encounter bugs, please feel free to submit an issue in G2Android bugtracker !
And, as we say in such periods, merry Xmas and happy new year ! Using G2Android ;-)

  1. Hey Anthony! Your app rocks. Thanks so much for putting this together. I’ve been using it and testing it out quite a bit over the last 2 weeks. I am a graphic artist and I would welcome the opportunity to work with you on improving the launch interface.

  2. Hey… I will take a look at the source code for sure. I am new to Android and I plan on learning more soon. For now, I’m spending more time with Gallery and Geeklog. I wrote a note about your App in a news post I did on Flashyourweb.com and my site. I’ll be in touch when I have something put together for the interface. Talk with you soon.

  3. Hey Anthony. I’ve created a few renders of some logo ideas for the App. Though I like the Droid in the logo, it may be a good idea to keep it simple for the App icon, and possibly use the other content for loading and splash screens. Just my 2 cents. Feel free to check out the renders in my album. I have posted hi-resolution layered PSDs with alpha. If you are looking for a certain size, or format, I can easily convert.

Please feel free to email me with any comments, as I noticed your website doesn’t notify me with replies to this thread.

  4. hey Anthony, I’m looking forward to testing your app also! I’m also doing testing for iGallery (iphone app (not free)) with G2Android side by side so I can recommend it to my users on my free G2 multisite hosting service.

@Dan – those G2Android logos you created are SICK man! niceeeeeee work!

    kind regards,

    Steve
